The majority of organizations run individual projects that may be duplicates or abstracts of one another without any real alignment. In addition, dependent on the organization, the methodology used to deliver those projects may be different, based on individual experiences or entirely missing.

Focuses on component design, interfaces, use and reuse to enable successful delivery, maintenance and continued development. One aspect of this approach that is often overlooked is the need for organizational change to support this type of development and actually create an environment that enables reuse.
